St. Patrick's Day Table Ideas

What kid doesn’t love St. Patrick’s Day? It’s such a fun holiday to celebrate; all rainbows, leprechauns, and pots of gold! This year, I wanted to create a fun St. Patrick’s Day with some DIY elements to really make it my own. It’s easy to create a fun tablescape that all your little leprechauns will love!

I started with covering my breakfast table with this Cloud Poly Vinyl. This is a giant roll and you could use it for all kinds of awesome party backdrops too! I knew I wanted to make a rainbow table runner too, so I used gossamer in rainbow colors to create my very own custom version. It’s really easy and it only takes a few supplies.

Here’s what you need for a table runner to fit a 6 foot long table:

  • 6 rolls gossamer in rainbow colors
  • Sharp Scissors
  • Hot Glue
  • White Paper clouds (Cut out of white cardstock)

Cut each roll of gossamer into 9 foot sections. Once you have done that, fold each length of gossamer onto itself twice. Glue down the open seams. Overlap and glue each piece in a ROY G BIV pattern, leaving two inches between each color. Trim the ends to an even length to fit your table. Add your clouds with hot glue and you’re all set! To create the "pots of gold" at the end of the rainbow, I used three black plastic cauldrons and filled them with several plastic grocery bags. If you are like me, you have a million of these lying around your house. I stuffed garbage bags inside the cauldrons until they created a nice mound on top of the opening. Then, using hot glue, I glued plastic coins right to the bags on top. It creates a look of a giant pile of gold in the bag!

To create the rest of my party, I used some fun St. Patrick’s Day party supplies from Shindigz. I started with these gold placemats because they look like big pieces of gold coin. Over those, I placed a large glittered shamrock cutout to create texture on my place setting. I chose the fun St. Patrick’s Day plaid dinner plates and added a rainbow napkin to finish off the place setting. And because I love details, I glued a few of the remaining plastic coins right to my green forks. I also scattered some coins and shamrock cut outs down the length of my table runner. When my son got home from school, I got a big "WOW!" when he saw the table.

Every St. Patrick’s Day Party needs wearables and Shindigz has a huge selection of fun items! My little ones loved the shamrock glasses and the shamrock head boppers. They really had fun with this leprechaun beanie with the attached beard. It’s so funny!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
