They aren’t quite graduating from high school yet, but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a party! Celebrate your little preschooler or kindergartner by hosting a grad party for all his or her friends before they move on to the first grade.
These little ones have spent the entire year reading the classics – from "Green Eggs and Ham" to "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Draw inspiration for the party from their favorite books! Plan the food around book and its characters – the Hungry Caterpillar has lots of colorful fruits! Decorations are also key. Have you ever seen paper lanterns look so cute?
Decorate for the party with the bright primary colors that the kids have been learning about in school! Shades like red, blue and yellow are a great place to start. For added fun, use decorations that also pull in the graduation theme, like paper lanterns wearing grad caps!
You’ll need some activities to keep the little ones entertained at the graduation! Cover tables in sheets of plain white paper, and provide little buckets filled with crayons so kids can draw as they sit. If you’re okay with the party getting a little messier, provide watercolor paints! Just don’t forget the smocks.
Don’t forget the snacks! Offer kids school-themed snacks, like these cake pops shaped like paper and chalkboards. Apples are a must! Create a caramel apple bar by cutting up apple slices and offering toppings such as caramel, melted chocolate, sprinkles, m&m’s and more in pretty jars and pails.
Blast Off into the First Grade! Throw an outer space-themed party for your little ones. Fill the party space with rockets, representing the little grads rocketing off onto their next adventure! Get each one a personalized space helmet, so that they’re prepared for this new mission.
Time flies when you’re having fun! Where did the days of preschool and Kindergarten go? Reminisce on these good old days with a Time Flies-themed grad party. Decorate with tons of airplanes, white balloons that look like puffy clouds and maps.
Start your engines, and race off to elementary school! Celebrate the little car-lover and his friends with a racing-themed grad party. Order little trophies or medals congratulating the kids on their first graduation. For more fun, have them decorate their own cardboard cars to run around the playground with!
