Peanuts 1st Birthday Party by Julie Verville
Chapman’s Peanuts Theme 1st birthday party was beyond adorable! You will love all of the festive ideas, DIY projects, and adorable photos captured from his special day….
As guests entered Chapman’s party, they were greeted by a Peanut’s flag and a handmade Snoopy doghouse, a favorite by their sweet Boston Terrier Tilly who also dressed up for the big party by wearing Snoopy dog ears. One of our favorite shots from the party is of baby Chapman wearing his adorable Charlie Brown outfit sitting in front of the Snoopy house.
For the main dessert table, we decided to play homage to the kite Charlie Brown attempts to fly in the new Peanuts movie. A hand-painted Charlie Brown standee stood proudly in front of the table, fringed foil party hat and all, holding a handmade red kite flying amongst the cloud cutouts and white tissue pom poms displayed against a blue sky backdrop.
We wanted to highlight a few key characters from the Peanuts series throughout the party, particularly Woodstock, Charlie Brown and Snoopy. The centerpiece of the dessert table was Chapman’s birthday cake; a store-bought cake decorated with Peanuts sugar cookies on a white milk glass pedestal.
To the right of the cake, a Woodstock plus toy sat propped in a nest on top of a pedestal filled with Woodstock cookies. To the left of the cake, a handmade Snoopy dog house created out of wood housed a Snoopy plus toy and was the perfect accompaniment to Snoopy cake ball pops sitting in a plastic grass mat and surrounded by a white picket fence. Colorful cupcakes were topped with Peanuts pics and displayed on a 2-tier wooden cloud cupcake stand. We used colorful Peanuts Friendship dessert plates and personalized foil napkins reading "Happy Birthday Chapman" for serving.
During the party, guests were entertained with a bounce house, riding toys, and face painting/balloon artist Michelle from Bugga Bugga Balloons. The littlest guests crawled through a tunnel and played in a mini pool of balls. Guests dined on hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries and fruit set up outdoors using bright yellow dinner plates, Peanuts Friendship napkins and black chevron stamped cutlery displayed in yellow pails.
Each guest went home with homemade "Snoopy Snacks" wrapped in Stadium Cups and special handmade tags by Chapman’s mommy and assistant big sister Hadden.
