What’s more iconic on Valentine’s Day than those multi-colored heart candies? Do you like them? I admit that they are not my favorite candy, but they sure do conjure up memories of getting boxes of candy as a kid on Valentine’s Day! Using those adorable little candies as my inspiration, I came up with a very fun PARTY HEARTY theme that’s perfect for both boys and girls! It’s a perfect theme for a classroom Valentine’s Day Party!
Shindigz has the cutest candy heart inspired party goods that were the starting point for my party design. I love these 8ft candy heart square columns. I shortened mine just a bit (all it takes is an x-acto knife) to be able to fit these fun, big three dimensional mylar candy heart balloons under my ceiling. I placed one column on either side of my party table to define the space.
For the backdrop, I used the Pink Flat Paper roll and taped it to a large piece of construction insulation (which I use all the time for backdrops). I wanted to bring in the PARTY HEARTY theme by spelling it out with balloons. But, I didn’t want to use the balloons in gold and silver metal tones. Instead I wanted them to be the colors of the candy hearts, so I painted them! You can use spray paint or craft paint, but spray paint didn’t come in the colors I needed, so I used regular craft paint. I’ve even put together a fun time lapse video for you, so you can see the process!
For my table cover, I used two of the pink polyester table covers, and topped them with this fun soft pink tulle table skirt. Instead of using the Candy Hearts Strings Decorations for my walls, or backdrop, I thought outside the box a little and strung them along the front of my table skirt. The monofilament that they are strung from makes them look like they are floating, which I love! I simply cut them into the lengths I wanted to use and then used duct tape to secure the top heart to the top of my tablecloth.
Did you know that Shindigz has a huge selection of candy and personalized candy favors? For my party, I had to have these pink Hershey’s Kisses and gumballs in the colors of the candy hearts! I love sending my guests home with a fun, personalized favor and I always think edible favors are the best kind. I personalized these candy heart themed Hershey’s bars with our party slogan, as well as these small mint tins. It’s so easy to personalize items! I love these mint tins. I always keep a few with me in my car or purse. And the printing is directly onto the tin, it’s not a sticker!
One of my favorite tips for moms is to shop the holiday and seasonal aisle when planning a party! With upcoming holidays, you are almost guaranteed to find something you can use to elevate your party! These Little Debbie snacks are a favorite! They always have something fun and seasonal that all kids love. Another easy idea is store-bought cupcakes that are changed into your theme with just a little finesse. These cupcakes had Elena of Avalor toppers, but I simply removed those and substituted a marshmallow peep on a stick! On the other cupcakes, I used my glue gun and glued some candy hearts to paper straws and used those as toppers! It’s easy!
