Hunting Camo Birthday Party Idea

Julie Verville | JULY 6, 2017

Celebrate your little hunter with this camo inspired party theme!

When creating this party design, we wanted to incorporate hunting imagery, fun phrases and modern dessert designs. Our backdrop highlighted three camo deer trophies hung against a faux wood paper covered wooden board. To replicate this simple DIY project, attach the roll of faux wood using tape or a staple gun to a 48" square piece of thin plywood. Pre-cut plywood is commonly found at your local hardware store, making this type of custom backdrop a simple, affordable option.

For linens, we layered a chocolate brown polyester tablecloth over a light beige polyester tablecloth for texture. To bring dimension to the table’s front, we hung a kraft paper garland using straight pins to either side of the table linens and then displayed wild grass standees along the table’s base.

The birthday cake was modern in style, focusing on black duck silhouettes flying upwards toward the horizon. We displayed the cake as well as other desserts on rustic wooden stands. Simple vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing were dressed up in personalized cupcake wrappers and displayed on the top and base tiers of our cupcake stand.

For a fun twist on dessert, we served crushed cookies and chocolate pudding in half pint ball jars, aka "dirt" with a personalized sticker on the middle tier of the cupcake stand. Mallard duck cookies were displayed on a larger, wooden round piece; a hit with party guests!

For other party snacks, we served ‘camo corn’, aka popcorn in individual cellophane favor bags.

Orange mints aka ‘shotgun shells’ and chocolate malt balls aka ‘deer droppings’ made great additions to the table. Printing personalized labels with fun phrases for party snacks is a great way to tie everything on your dessert table together.

Everything was served on camo print dessert plates with coordinating beverage napkins.

Doubling as party entertainment and favors were fun binoculars and small toy compasses. For younger party guests, dress-up items or toys that are theme related provide ongoing entertainment and are much appreciated party favors.

We hope some of these hunting design ideas provide inspiration for your next party or gathering!
