Calling all outdoorsy boys and girls!! Let’s get camping….

When putting together this camping themed birthday party, we couldn’t resist setting it in the woods near a child’s play cabin! One of my favorite things to do when planning children’s birthday parties is to find venues that work with the theme that also provide activities for the party’s guests.

As guests entered the yard, they were greeted with this life-sized directional post standee with fun descriptions of party details.

For the main table, we used these amazing tree standees behind the table for height and the owl and fox standees in front of the table for dimension and a bit of whimsy. The table was draped in natural burlap to coordinate with the party’s surroundings. We went with a naked chocolate birthday cake covered in mint chocolate chip icing….it was simple and delicious! For vanilla lovers, we also offered cupcakes dressed up in personalized "Happy Birthday" cupcake wrappers, displayed on this 3-tiered rustic wood stand.+

We served dessert on these adorable Happy Camper dessert plates using navy wooden stamped cutlery and navy beverage napkins. Water was available throughout the party using these fun paper cups. When working with a specific theme, I like mixing printed and solid tableware for added depth and visual interest over using everything offered in that specific design theme.

For fun table décor, we used this fun lantern which offers a camping nod and this easy to assemble campfire centerpiece. For additional snacks during the party, we served simple goldfish and chocolate bears in a rustic, split wood serving piece. For a little humor, we used this mini fishing pole hanging over the goldfish….For afternoon events, I often recommend keeping things simple in terms of food to create a more affordable party; a few snacks, beverages, and dessert will do the trick!

Guests filled individual mini-galvanized pails with their choice of trail mix items from our Trail Mix Bar as their party favor. Guests scooped raisins, butterscotch pieces, mini marshmallows, pre-mixed nuts and white chocolate bits using clear candy scoops. "Happy Trails" signage for our favor station was created using personalized stickers displayed in rustic wood placecard holders. One of my favorite things about the Shindigz site is the ability to create custom labels within any theme with a few simple clicks!

Guests enjoyed the outdoors throughout the party! Sandbox play, enjoying the swing set, playing make-believe in the wooden playhouse and hiding in this personalized tent were all part of the party fun!

Camping is a theme that can be enjoyed year round inside or out, by both birthday boys and girls! All you need is an outdoor setting, a few simple activities, and great décor!
