Barnyard is such a classic birthday party theme, perfect for children of all ages! There are so many design components to pull inspiration from creating unlimited décor opportunities. We certainly enjoyed creating this party design!
The focal point of our dessert table was most certainly the cornstalk standees flanking either side of the backdrop, not only adding height to our design but a fun whimsical element. As we chose to use several standees, we kept the backdrop for our table simple, choosing a simple barnyard wooden scene setter against 48" plywood and a Happy Birthday banner draped across the center.
To pull through the red coloring from our party package, we chose this red & white gingham tablecloth which we draped to the floor. To add texture and dimension, we added a simple burlap runner across the table.
Our birthday cake was this super cute barn sitting atop a vintage step-stool versus a traditional cake stand or pedestal. We just loved the exaggerated cupcake like roof line created for the top portion of the cake. For that extra something, we added a green tractor candle to the top of the cake.
Our cupcakes were displayed on these rustic wooden cupcake risers, adding just enough height off the table for visibility, but allowing our cake to remain the focal point of the table. To dress up our store bought cupcakes, we added personalized cupcake wrappers and these adorable barnyard rings as toppers.
One of my favorite things to do whenever designing a dessert table is to incorporate theme appropriate snacks with fun, kitschy sayings. For example, I couldn’t resist adding "Farm Fresh Eggs" as little party treats and/or party favors in these simple clear cello bags with personalized favor toppers. We also served simple goldfish crackers in these carrot cello bags, which were not only great for individual servings but in keeping with our farm theme.
Party favors were displayed in this vintage red wagon, sitting on a hay bale. Children’s western hats and black bandanas were neatly displayed for guests to enjoy during the party as well as plush barnyard animals to select for a take-home gift. For a touch of whimsy, we had this super fun chicken balloon peeking out from under the wagon.
