I’ve been telling my husband for a while that I wanted to build our daughters a playhouse, but we just never seem to find the time. I recently came across a lady who was giving her playhouse away; we just needed to pick it up that same day, which worked out perfectly. It needed quite a bit of work, but I love to do that sort of stuff so it was fun.
I talked it over with my girls and they both decided they wanted a play bakery since they love cupcakes so much. So, I got to work. I spent whatever free time I had over the next few weeks to give the playhouse a total makeover. I painted the inside and out, made a floor for it and built a custom oven.
In the end, it was so cute I wanted to invite some more friends over to break it in. So, I teamed up with Shindigz to put together the cutest play bakery grand opening celebration!
We chose the name Whimsy Cakes Bakery, specializing in all kinds of magical bakes.
My daughter’s favorite thing in the world is unicorns so we decided to make some cupcakicorns, along with other magical treats like mermaid cupcakes and disco donuts. For the disco donuts, I picked up some donuts from the store and iced them with frosting, then added some cute sprinkles and a few different toppers--such a cute way to take store-bought donuts to another level.
We had a grand opening dessert table filled with all the treats.
I put in a call to the Fairy Godmother and she sent word to Cinderella that all the little princesses would love to meet her, so she stopped by for some special story time and cupcake decorating at our Sprinkle Station decorating table. It featured custom placemats and each setting had its own tray of sprinkles to decorate as desired.
The bakery was open for all our friends to play and it got some great use.
