Angry Birds Birthday Party by Brittany Schwaigert
Do you have any Angry Birds fans in your house? My five year old is OBSESSED with Angry Birds Go! And since the movie came out this summer, his obsession has taken on a whole new level of intensity. We saw the movie a few weeks ago and he loved it. Several months ago he told me that he wanted to have an Angry Birds party this year, so I immediately started brainstorming. Lucky for me, Shindigz has all the newly designed Angry Birds movie party goods!
I knew I wanted to do a more modern spin on the Angry Birds theme, incorporating black and white into the design. So, I started with this black and white striped rectangle table cover, which I put over a simple black linen. I made a feather garland using craft feathers that I picked up at the craft store. I glued them directly to red ribbon for an easy pop of color on the front of the table.
On top of the table, I used this AWESOME TNT box set for a huge impact! I love the way that these boxes build my table up and also create their own backdrop. These are very big, so I put a little table behind my main table to give them some more room. These are the perfect item for an Angry Birds party! I added some TNT signs that I downloaded for free from the internet. To create my Angry Birds, I used simple paper lanterns in the colors of the main characters and the pigs. Then, I added faces which I also downloaded for free. To give them some extra fun, I also added the craft feathers.
For my food choices, of course we had to have cake! My friend Melanie at Mad Lily Cakery has made all of Lachlan’s birthday cakes and this Angry Birds one did not disappoint. I displayed it on a simple wreath (or nest) that I picked up at the craft store. The gorgeous sugar cookies are from SemiSweet Confections. For the kids to take home, SweetsIndeed made me these adorable sweets skewers with Angry Birds rings added. Angry Birds need worms right? Sour gummy worms displayed in this pedestal candy jar did the trick. I also served some simple white chocolate eggs too. Since this party had a lot of little ones running around, and my little guy’s favorite food is Chick Fil A, I picked up a large tray of chicken (bird) nuggets for our guests. I also served some pigs in a blanket. I love a themed food idea!
For the favor and beverage station, I used a simple black and white disposable tablecloth. I surrounded the area with these giant latex balloons which I also customized with the bird faces. The pig balloons were made using mylar balloons. I custom made this banner with my birthday boy’s name and age. I displayed the favors on another of the TNT boxes. I love these personalized favor boxes! I was able to add Lachlan’s cute face and his name to make them extra special! I filled each one with an Angry Birds cup, a slingshot, jelly bean pyramids, and some Dum-Dums for the kids to take home. I had a little fun with the beverage station. If you’ve seen the movie, you know that Bomb and Chuck drink from the Mighty Eagle’s lake of wisdom, only to find that he has been peeing in it! So, I HAD to serve lake of wisdom lemonade!
Outside we had a huge waterslide to keep the kids busy, but I wanted to decorate this area too, so I personalized this super fun banner with Lachlan’s name and picture. He LOVED seeing himself on a banner! It’s such a fun way to make your little ones feel special!
Have fun celebrating your flock this summer!
