For my Oscar Themed party, I used these stars randomly on top of netting fabric that hangs on the ceiling. Since the netting is not flush to wall, it allows the stars to pick up light in the room and cast shadows. I even cut around the remaining stencils left and added them as well! Looks awesome!

Several years ago we used both the stars and holographic ribbon on the set of a revue. When I realized I would be doing a vaudeville review this year, the box of stars came back out of storage to be added to, and we got another few rolls of the holographic ribbon. It's easy, cheap, and looks like a million bucks from the audience. Even Ziegfeld couldn't knock it.
