The tops and bottoms of the columns are just a box and you can see each tab pocket for assembly. We ended up wrapping them with paper. Assembly was easy.

We used the columns for decorations for my son's 8th grade dance. They were easy to set up and very durable. We used them as decorations at the entrance. We wrapped lights around them. They looked very nice.
