Top 3 tips to pull off the perfect toddler birthday party
Date Created: 07/19/2011
A toddler's birthday may seem like a tricky proposition for most parents, but in many ways these are the last few birthdays where you will get a chance to work with an inexpensive theme and run with it. While it may seem like everything should be planned to a T, a boy birthday party or a girl birthday party for toddlers will give you great leeway to plan an unforgettable event. Be sure to keep a few of these things in mind when planning the celebration.
1. Choose a simple theme. While it may seem like you should hire clowns and deck out your home with character-driven themes, a much simpler theme will keep the kids entertained. For example, if you decide to choose your child's favorite color, you can encourage guests and parents to come dressed in this hue. This is a cost-effective way of decorating and you can use some mylar balloons, confetti and streamers to jazz up your venue in a hurry. Your toddler is probably just learning the colors of the rainbow, so he or she will be instantly engaged with the theme.
2. Outdoor parties. If the weather will cooperate, holding your party outdoors is an excellent way to spare yourself the extra cleanup. You could opt to hold the event at a children's museum or an indoor playground to allow the kids to run amok and have their own fun. You could also choose to rent a tent and set it up in your backyard, regardless of what the weather forecast looks like. This will spare you the pre- and post-party mess and it will help you cut down on costs.
3. Pictures. You're going to want to capture everything from your child's party, so designate someone as the photographer so you can walk around and mingle with guests. Be sure to pick up some extra batteries and an extra memory card for your camera, because you never know when the unexpected might happen and you'll miss out on some treasured memories.
By having a flexible plan in mind and taking a few of these proactive steps, you can ensure that your toddler's birthday party is not only a fun and engaging experience, but it will help save you money in the process.
