With the recent news of troop reductions in Afghanistan, families all around the country that are overjoyed of their men and women in uniform finally coming home safe. This is a once in a lifetime celebration, so you should be able to go all out with your party decorations and prepare some of his favorite foods to give him the welcome home that he's been dreaming about during his entire time overseas.
1. Hang up signs all over town. Personalized banners and other large-scale party signs are the perfect ideas to make your soldier feel glad to be home. Hang one from an overpass in the center of town or a few on the street lining the block. It will fill him with a sense of pride before he even knocks on your door. Additionally, you can tug at the heart strings of everyone in your community by showing that one of their community's native sons or daughters has finally returned home. 2. Patriotic decorations. Now that your family member is back on home soil, decorating your venue with red, white and blue party supplies is the best way to show your family's patriotism and help your soldier feel right at home. The only person that should inform your menu choices is your guest of honor, so throw together a collection of delectable dishes that he has been missing during his time away. Make him a special dish that you know he loves, and be sure to put out some of his favorite candies, snacks and other foods he wouldn't be able to find overseas.
