Top 3 tips to make your Mardi Gras party stand out

Top 3 tips to make your Mardi Gras party stand out. While many people are still shaking off the rust from their New Year's celebrations, there's already a fabulous celebration on the horizon to get prepared for. Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, is February 19 and it's a festival of beads, bright colors, music and delicious food that will help you break from the doldrums of winter. Mardi Gras is your chance to show off your party-planning prowess in the middle of winter, and you won't have to break the bank in the process. The following tips will help you throw together a dynamic setup and wow your friends.

1. Bountiful color. The main hues of your Mardi Gras party are purple, green and gold, so make sure that you have plenty of party tableware, colorful streamers and curling ribbon around serving tables and communal areas. If you're holding your party during the evening, consider putting up gossamer paper on your walls and dim the lights. Set up a table or two with glow-in-the-dark pens and let your friends decorate your walls. By the end of the night, you will have an entire wall filled with pictures and messages that will add character to your bash.

2. Delectable cuisine. Since Mardi Gras is typically celebrated in the south, you can infuse these spices and tastes into your menu. A slow cooker recipe is the easiest way to save time, so go with something everyone will like, such as Cajun pulled chicken sandwiches. All you need to do is drop you ingredients into the pot a few hours before the party starts, let it stew together and it will be ready by the time your guests arrive. Be sure to have catering supplies and imprinted napkins handy to avoid any spills.

3. Party favors. When your guests come inside, be sure to give them plenty of beads to wear, but that's not the only thing they should leave your party with! Use a few personalized chocolate bars and cookie tin favors to give your friends a sweet treat to remember your wonderful celebration.

Instead of venturing out during the winter weather on Mardi Gras, have your friends come to you! These Mardi Gras party supplies will help you pull together your gathering with ease and it may just become an annual tradition!
