Top 3 tips to keep your sanity during your hubby's Super Bowl party
Date Created: 01/19/2012
With the Super Bowl only a few weeks away, you're probably dreading having a whole house full of your hubby's screaming friends and a table spread with fatty foods. However, there's no reason that your Super Bowl party has to revolve around the big game. While everyone else is off watching countless commercials and halftime shows, you and a group of your friends can throw a separate celebration. Give these activities a try to escape the hysteria that surrounds the Super Bowl.
1. Class it up! Instead of chowing down on burgers and beer, get a group of your friends together to enjoy something a bit more opulent. Pick up a few bottles of wine and throw together a few appetizers. You can go for healthier choices like a veggie platter with a homemade yogurt dip or bruschetta with fresh bread. Make sure you have plenty of party tableware, imprinted napkins and plastic silverware to make cleanup much easier at the end of the night. This will be a fabulous opportunity to catch up with your friends and enjoy some delightful fare that you won't regret on Monday.
2. Start your own party pool. Instead of betting on the big game, get the ladies together and create a pool betting on some of the happenings at your party. Place bets on who will consume the most alcohol, who will be in the worst shape when their favorite team loses and which company will have the best Super Bowl commercial. If you're forced to sit down and watch the game with the fellas, this may be a great way to keep things interesting.
3. Hold a card game. While the rest of the gang is off chugging beer and eating unhealthy foods, move your group into a different part of the house and set up a card or board game. Decorate your space with mylar balloons, streamers and confetti and whip up a few cocktails. Additionally, if the weather is a bit mild on Super Bowl Sunday, move the activities outside to play a game of horseshoes or ladderball.
If you're not that big of a football fan, the Super Bowl can be a real drag. But with a few creative adjustments and some Super Bowl party supplies, you'll be able to get through the unofficial holiday with ease.
