Top 3 tips to host an engaging spring beach party

Date Created: 03/05/2012

Top 3 tips to host an engaging spring beach party. It may only be early March, but in many parts of the country, people are venturing out to the boardwalk and enjoying the first few beautiful days of spring on the beach. If you live close to a body of water, you can use this as a locale for your next beach party. Holding a bash on the beach is a bit more difficult than hosting one at home, but with a few beach party supplies at your disposal and some activities planned, you can give spring the welcome it deserves. Keep the following ideas in mind to ensure that your get-together goes off without a hitch.

1. Bring a grill along. Transporting a bevy of coolers and freezer bags can be extremely taxing, so make cleanup far easier on yourself by bringing a small charcoal grill with you. Pack up some barbecue favorites like chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and sliced up veggies that your friends can much on throughout the day. Be sure to pack a few catering supplies and party tableware as well to add a festive accent to the gathering and to leave very little to bring back home with you.

2. Decorate your space. When you claim your spot on the beach, you should make sure that you can spot it from anywhere on the sand. Claim a picnic table or two for your group and tie up a few mylar balloons or streamers to the side. This will help you spot your friends if you happen to walk down the beach and lose your reference point, and it will be a wonderful way to add vibrant flair to your setup. You should also make a bit of space for a fire pit - it can be pretty cold during a spring evening on the beach, and this could be a fitting way to end a memorable day.

3. Activities. The beach is tailor-made for fun outdoor activities, but since you probably won't venture into the water, you'll have to plan ahead. Bring along a frisbee or a football to play catch, or go for the gusto and bring a collapsible volleyball net.

It may be a bit early to party on the sand, but with a few advanced preparations and a bit of warm clothing, you and your friends can enjoy an unforgettable day on the beach as a welcome break from the winter doldrums.
