Top three tips to throwing a harvest-themed fall party

Date Created: 10/12/2011

Top three tips to throwing a harvest-themed fall party. There are some people out there that look at the month of October not as a time to celebrate ghouls and goblins, but as a way of enjoying the many delights that autumn has to offer. A fall party with a harvest theme is a great way to spend a beautiful day during the autumn, and it can be thrown together quite easily. Your celebration will be predicated on the addition of decorations and delectable cuisine, so keep a few of these tips in mind when you're planning out your festivities.

1. Fall-themed food and snacks. Autumn is all about comfort food and seasonal delights, so make this one of the biggest qualities of your bash. Whip up some warm apple cider for your guests, which is the perfect libation for a fall day. If you're going to be serving an entree for your attendees, try some grilled corn on the cob and make a pot of soup or chili. When served with fresh bread, this is a delectable choice for your harvest party that can help you take advantage of seasonal ingredients. Be sure to have party tableware, imprinted napkins and catering supplies on hand to make clean-up a breeze.

2. Party decorations. There are a number of ways to make your fall party stand out and embrace some common themes of the season. Invest in a few pumpkins, gourds and fall flowers to place around the perimeter of your venue. You can also get a few bales of hay fairly cheaply to act as a seating area for your guests. Your party should be washed in the fall color scheme of orange, yellow, brown, green and gold. You can fill in the gaps with mylar balloons, party centerpieces and other fall party supplies.

3. A fire pit. Since you don't want your shindig to end when the sun goes down, consider building a fire pit in your backyard. This will provide ample warmth for your guests when the mercury starts to dip, and you can break out some cocktail weenies or s'mores for your friends to enjoy. It could be the perfect ending to a fabulous day of autumn fun!

A harvest-themed fall party could be a great way to show off your party-planning panache, and it will allow you and your friends to enjoy all the things that make autumn stand out.
