Top three tips for throwing a potluck Halloween party
Date Created: 09/15/2011
Halloween is one of the most exciting holidays of the year, and it's not just for kids anymore! The event has been embraced by adults all over the country as a way to cut loose and enjoy a fabulous costume affair. One way to put a unique twist on your Halloween party is to throw a potluck. Instead of munching down on bite-sized candies during your shindig, encourage your guests to bring desserts that are inspired by their favorite Halloween candies. Keep a few of these ideas in mind when you're prepping your home for your costume party.
1. Spooky decorations. No Halloween party is complete without plenty of frightful decorations and orange and black accents that are ideal for the occasion. You can use mylar balloons, streamers and personalized banners for quick and easy additions that can decorate any area in your home. Another accent to consider is lighting - use some rope lights on the underside of your serving tables or underneath some of your furniture to create a spooky glow that is ideal for the occasion.
2. Serving supplies. Use party tableware, catering supplies, imprinted napkins and other helpful items on your serving table so your friends can sample all of the tasty treats without worrying about creating a huge mess. A fun twist on your celebration would be to place a few voting cards and a ballot box at one end of your table. When your friends have tried all of the tasty treats, they can vote for their favorites and you can hand out a prize to the winner.
3. Throw a few party games into the mix. Your potluck party shouldn't be all about eating, so be sure to have a few activities ready to keep everyone entertained. You can have your guests bob for apples, but make it a bit tougher by having them wear a blindfold in the process. Or hide some glow in the dark bugs around your house and in your yard and hand out a prize to the group that catches the most!
By utilizing a few of these fun and festive Halloween party supplies, you and your guests will have a wonderful time. It will be a fabulous mix of good food, company and a chance to show off your decorating prowess.
