Top 3 ideas to save a rained-out summer party
Date Created: 07/07/2011
Summer is the time of year to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, but just as quickly as the sun comes out, a thunderstorm may be close behind. If you're planning a gathering that is mainly outdoors, it's good to have some backup plans in mind that you can throw together in a pinch and decorate easily with party supplies.
1. A bowling party. If rain is threatening your outdoor gathering, you could always go to your nearest bowling alley and enjoy a few frames. Be sure to call ahead so that the facility will be able to accommodate your party, and also be sure to grab a few decorative accents to make your side of the bowling alley stand out. Mylar balloons, streamers and some party tableware are some simple additions that will spruce up your section of the alley and will certainly make for a memorable experience.
2. A city party. Weather can be a strain on any outdoor gathering, so if there's rain in the forecast you can move the celebration to a new locale. Go to your nearest urban area and hit up your favorite restaurant or nightclub. Get there early so you can get the best spot available so that you and your guests will be able to enjoy a night of fun. To make up for your abrupt change of plans, be sure to hand out some customized party favors to your friends. Personalized chocolate bars are always a fantastic choice, and you can add a small card for each person to thank them for coming to your bash.
3. A poker party. If all else fails and your plans fall through, there's nothing wrong with breaking out a deck of cards or a board game until the rain passes. Put on some music and whip up some snacks for a laid-back evening that your friends will love. All you have to do is move your outdoor seating into the house and you will have plenty of space for everyone to enjoy a rousing game of cards.
With a few minor preparations, you can ensure that your next get together is an unabashed success. You can't do anything about the weather, but a good party planner always has a back-up plan!
