The Statue of Liberty will celebrate its 125th birthday on October 28
Date Created: 10/18/2011
New York City is gearing up for an extremely unique gala on October 28 that will celebrate the 125th birthday of the Statue of Liberty, which was originally given to the United States as a gift from France to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. According to CrainsNewYork.com, the festivities will be joined by a U.S Coast Guard flotilla, a military gun salute and a Macy's fireworks display.
The celebration is meant to mirror the original dedication ceremony held on October 28, 1886, which was the first time New York City ever had a ticker-tape parade that was joined by fireworks. The bash will also showcase the many renovations of the statue and give it the birthday toast it deserves.
If you'd like to celebrate one of the icons of American culture, there's no better time to have a patriotic party! Deck out your space with red, white and blue and use party centerpieces, personalized banners and mylar balloons to infuse your venue with a festive atmosphere.
