Show off your party-planning prowess with a glow in the dark New Year's party

Date Created: 12/22/2011

Show off your party-planning prowess with a glow in the dark New Year's party. New Year's Eve is the next big holiday on the docket, so if you think of yourself as a world-class party planner, you're probably going to go all out with your party decorations this year. Having a theme makes your life a lot easier, so why not narrow down your style choices by throwing a glow in the dark bash? This New Year's 2012 party will give you plenty of decorative accents to work with and you can come up with a few one-of-a-kind accents that are sure to wow your guests. Keep the following ideas in mind to create a dazzling atmosphere for the big night.

1. Black lights. Invest in a few black light fixtures and bulbs and put them all around your house. You can then find as many white accents as you can, which will glow bright underneath the fixtures. Another tip is to hang up a large piece of black gossamer paper - you can then hand out glow in the dark markers so your guest can decorate the wall. By the end of the evening, you will have a whole wall filled with small pieces of artwork that required very little effort!

2. Dry ice. You can use dry ice to your advantage in a number of different ways. Put a small piece in one of your friend's cocktails to add a unique accent, or throw a few chunks in your punch bowl to give your serving table an intriguing touch. Be sure to surround your serving area with mylar balloons, party centerpieces and streamers to infuse the space with a bit of festive color.

3. Glow toys. When your guests walk in the door, be sure to hand out some glow sticks and glowing wristbands for them to wear. Get as many of these items as you can and put them in a large basket near your entryway. You can even hide a few of the pieces around the house and hand out a small prize at the end of the night to the person who collected the most!

With these New Year's 2012 party supplies and a few jaw-dropping decorative changes, your glow in the dark bash will be a get-together that your friends will be talking about throughout the new year.
