Show dad some love with an unexpected Father's Day fiesta
Date Created: 05/15/2012
Your father was the foundation of your upbringing. He taught you essential life skills that have helped you navigate through life. He instructed you on how to love and how to act as well as how to throw a ball or how to tie your shoes. No matter what you gathered from dad's infinite wisdom you know much of your success can be attributed to that man, so pay proper tribute to him with a surprise Father's Day party.
Decorate with gratitude
Upon entering the house, you want your father to know why his nearest and dearest are all gathered in his living room. This can easily be accomplished with a personalized banner that has a phrase that expresses your gratitude. It can be as simple as "Happy Father's Day" or as heartfelt and informal as "Love you Pop!"
Pick his favorite colors, or perhaps the tones from his favorite sports team, and infuse them into the party. Hang up streamers and balloons and adorn the perimeter of the living room or dining room with curling ribbon.
Remember when...
You can make party centerpieces that pay tribute to his many years as a father with old pictures of you as a toddler in his arms or by his side. While the memories you two made together will always be in his mind, he will appreciate you conjuring them up for him. This can also be accomplished in a comical way with a photo stand in of you and him from the past. The guests who have known him since you were an infant will have fun taking pictures with it.
Sing your praise
One thing that parents love to share with their children is their favorite band or singer - it's as if you are inheriting their love for a certain artist. Make a greatest hits playlist on your iPod of all the music you two might have listened together in the car or at home. Rent a karaoke machine so the guests can do their best renditions of these classic songs in duets or solos.
Suprise!
The element of surprise is vital to the evening. Take him out to his favorite restaurant for a Father's Day dinner. This will allow everyone to set up and decorate for the party, and you won't to have to worry as much about cooking because the guest of honor will have already eaten.
