School provides Thanksgiving luncheon for everyone
Date Created: 10/12/2010
The Ecole Arthur Meighen School held their third annual free Thanksgiving luncheon recently, which gave all students the opportunity to indulge in the traditional feast.
The Central Plains Herald-Leader reports that the staff and students assembled in the school's decorated gymnasium to take part in the meal and be surrounded by their friends. There were several tables piled with turkey, mashed potatoes, a variety of vegetables and delectable desserts.
"It's a nice occasion to sit together and celebrate Thanksgiving," principal Ron Goodale told the news source. "It's a cooperative effort."
The school is able to provide the students with the event through food donations made by local farmers. They also enter students' names to raffle off the leftover food to take home.
It may only be October, but preparation for turkey day should not be left to the last minute. Planning a Thanksgiving party is as easy as pie, as long as one remains organized.
Traditional Thanksgiving party supplies, like turkey and cranberry sauce, are what most expect on this festive holiday, but try placing unique party centerpieces like a cornucopia or craft projects created by the children to add an element of surprise.
