Gather your friends for an evening of low-stakes gambling, fun and laughs with a poker party. You can start out by sending party invitations through email, Facebook or Twitter in which you tell everyone to gather at your house at some specific hour. Poker games can take a long time, so plan on an evening when no one has to wake up early for work the next day.
For party tableware, get card themed plates and cups, and if you want to impress your friends, make party centerpieces by stacking cards. Although all it takes is someone to accidentally shake the table to send your hard work tumbling to the ground.
Keep everyone well-fed and hydrated throughout the course of the game. Serve chips, pizza or veggies and have series of beverages, from beer and wine to soda and juice. You might want to have a pot of coffee available also so players can keep their eyes open if the game runs late.
If you want to make the atmosphere more jovial, hang up black and red streamers and balloons, which will match the colors of the cards' suits. You should also organize party crafts or simple party games like War and Go Fish, in case your friends decide to bring their children.
