It's never too early to start planning your child's college graduation party
Date Created: 03/16/2012
When your college student starts stressing about his impending thesis due date or starts to sound a bit harried when he's studying for finals, that could be your first sign that it's time to start planning his graduation party. While you could look into a few innovative party themes, you should treat the occasion like a family reunion and try to get the whole clan together for a huge bash. Using a few beautiful party decorations and making a few advanced preparations, you and your new college graduate can celebrate in style. Before the big day arrives, keep the following tips in mind to help the gathering go smoothly.
1. Catering. As a special treat for your recently graduated college student, head to his favorite restaurant or sandwich shop in your town and have the event catered. While it may cost a bit more, this is a momentous occasion and you should spare no expense to make it memorable for your child. You can also invest in catering supplies and party tableware that can make cleanup far easier on you and your relatives.
2. Outdoor games. Since most college graduations take place in early May, you will probably have beautiful weather to work with. Consider setting up a bevy of outdoor games like badminton, horseshoes, throwing around a Frisbee and anything else that you have lying around the garage. This is a wonderful way to get all of your family members engaged in the celebration, and it can help them work off a bit of the delicious food they've been eating all afternoon.
3. Wow your child with party decorations. When your child comes home, you should welcome him with a beautiful personalized banner honoring all of his hard work. Since the sun of mid-May can also be quite strong, be sure to set up a few umbrellas for your elderly relatives to give them a place to retreat from the heat. In your main seating area, line the perimeter with colorful mylar balloons, streamers, and curling ribbon. Better yet, use your child's school colors as an easy way to refine your decorative scheme.
Graduating from college will be one of the most important events in your child's life, and it's certainly a time to celebrate. With these graduation party supplies at your disposal, you won't be able to wipe that smile off your grad's face.
