Is the cold weather getting you down? A luau party can lift your spirits
Date Created: 10/27/2011
Now that the mercury is dropping all over the country and the autumn leaves are slowly but surely falling to the ground, it's time for a change of pace before winter hits. If you and your friends are longing for the good times of the summer, a luau party could be the ideal way to break out of the early fall funk and show off your party planning prowess. There's a nearly unlimited amount of decorative potential for this bash, so keep a few of these tips in mind when you're planning out your venue.
1. Creating ambiance. Since you want your home to resemble a day at the beach, why not go all out and let your guests feel sand underneath their feet throughout the evening? Set aside a room in your home and put down a tarp and cover it with sand. This is a jaw-dropping way to show your commitment to the theme, and you can simply fold up the tarp afterwards for a no-hassle cleanup. It's a risk-taking venture that is sure to wow your guests.
2. Island drinks and snacks. Food will play an important role in your luau party, so design a menu based around warm weather delights. Whip up a homemade Hawaiian pizza, make some Jamaican jerk chicken or a few Cuban sandwiches. Be sure to have a wide range of beverage choices, such as pina coladas and daiquiris, and don't forget the mini umbrellas for each drink! You can also perk up the look of your serving area with party centerpieces, streamers and imprinted napkins.
3. The proper attire. Encourage your guests to break out their Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts on your party invitations and be sure to give them a floral lei when they come through the door. You can also jazz up the look of your entryway with flowers around the doorway and by placing a small side table with straw hats, pineapples and other pieces of island flair nearby. A few of these accents combined with dazzling luau party supplies will help you and your friends beat the winter blues.
With the frigid weather fast approaching, your next celebration should be a way to help you and your friends keep your minds off of the forecast and enjoy the sights and sounds of the tropics.
