How to throw a jungle theme party

How to throw a jungle theme party

The jungle is the perfect idea for a theme party due to its air of untamed wildness - it encourages a lively atmosphere. As the summer months come upon you and the mercury rises, celebrate the heat with a jungle get-together that is bound to linger in the memories of your guests for years to come.

Spread the word
Make appropriately colored, green party invitations using corrugated paper. If you are artistically inclined, draw a picture of a jaguar, chimpanzee or other jungle-dwelling creature on the outside of the invite and on the inside write a clever phrase such as, "Come to my jungle shindig, it will be a roaring good time."

Tropical decorations
Rainforests are a sea of thick green vegetation, so help recreate this atmosphere by bringing in as many plants to your house as possible. You can pick up potted plants and arrange them in your living room. Also, if you have woods in your area, find branches and leaves and add them as decor. Not only will this be visually appealing, but your home will take on that floral scent. You may also want to lay down a tarp so your floor doesn't get dirty. To help make the environment more festive, add your own decorations such as green and brown, curling ribbon and balloons that emulate the color of leaves and bark. Green streamers that hang from the ceiling can also be used to mimic vines.

For sound, buy a CD that has jungle sounds of roaring pumas and tropical birds singing.

Have your guests complete the theme with great costumes. Tell them to get creative and dress as their favorite jungle animal. Also Tarzan and Jane are heavily associated with the forest, so perhaps you and your significant other can take on those personas for thenight.

For a good cause
While the purpose of your party is ultimately to have a good time and socialize, you can still use it as a force for positive change. There are a series of great non-profits such as the Rainforest Alliance and the World Wildlife Fund that strive to help conserve rainforests as well as the endangered lives of the animals that inhabit them. Ask your guests to make a donation to one of these causes by leaving a container at the door with a sign indicating what organization their money will go to.
