How to save on your Memorial Day barbecue
Date Created: 05/19/2011
If you're planning a Memorial Day backyard party, there are a few things to keep in mind so that you're not spending a fortune on your festivities. According to MSNBC.com, Food Network host Guy Fieri recently shared some tips on how to cut costs at your barbecue while still providing some delectable cuisine.
First off, know your audience. Don't go out and buy a prime rib or fish dish if your guests would like something simpler. One of the best ideas is to whip up some normal dishes such as hot dogs and hamburgers and give them your own twist. Try a bleu cheese burger or offer your guests a chili cheese dog for a welcome change of pace.
If you're insistent on crafting a pricier dish, make it an appetizer to cut costs. This will help you portion out the high-end ingredients, and allow you to make less if you have some finicky eaters.
Lastly, you'll want to decorate your space for the occasion, so adorn your space with mylar balloons, party centerpieces, party tableware and other backyard party supplies that will wow your guests and make cleanup easy.
