Hold a Hollywood party to celebrate the Academy Awards

Awards season is in full swing, and the cream of the crop will arrive on February 26 with the Academy Awards. If you and your friends are huge movie buffs, this is a perfect opportunity to host a Hollywood party and cheer on your favorite nominees. The Oscars are one of the biggest awards shows of the year and are always filled with their own share of surprises. Thankfully, you can use the following tips to ensure that your guests get A-lister treatment.
1. Hold an Oscar pool. While emotions may be running high when cheering for your favorite productions and entertainers, you can amp up the competitive nature of your guests by starting an Oscar pool. Go online and print out lists of the nominees and let your guests pick their winners for each category. Have everyone put in five dollars or so and then tally up the winner at the end of the night.
2. An Oscar atmosphere. Encourage your guests to come dressed in their finest for the occasion, and make sure that your venue is spruced up to match. Colorful party curtains, streamers, party centerpieces and other Hollywood party supplies are quick and inexpensive additions that will add a touch of class to your evening. Keep a camera handy and take plenty of pictures of your friends in their formal wear!
3. Oscar trivia. In the lead-up to the awards show, you're going to need an activity to pass the time. This will be the 84th annual Academy Awards, so there's plenty of history to work with. Go online and create a series of questions about popular movies and performers of the past. You can even give a few personalized chocolate bars or mint tin favors to the winners. This is a wonderful way to show off your creative side and set the mood for a night celebrating achievements in motion picture.
