Help your guests enjoy their vices one last time during your New Year's Eve party

Date Created: 12/16/2011

Help your guests enjoy their vices one last time during your New Year's Eve party. New Year's resolutions can consist of everything from pledging to drop a few pounds to quitting smoking and everything else in between. While it remains to be seen whether or not your friends will actually follow through on their resolutions, you can treat your New Year's Eve party as a chance for your guests to indulge in these vices before they have to swear them off in the next year. Here are a few tips to help your friends go all out with their chosen vices so they can start fresh in the coming weeks.

1. RSVP with resolutions. When you send out your party invitations, ask your friends to RSVP and name their New Year's resolution. This will give you a sense of what people will be trying to enjoy throughout the evening so you can set up vice stations. For instance, if some of your guests are swearing off sweets in the New Year, set up a table with cookies and candies and serve them with party tableware and imprinted napkins. Be adventurous and try to accommodate as many different resolutions as possible.

2. Party decorations. When you've set up a number of different areas for your guests to indulge in their fleeting vices, you can start to fill in the gaps with festive New Year's Eve party supplies. Use a few colorful streamers and curling ribbon to jazz up the look of your serving table, and place mylar balloons around the perimeter of your space. Of course, don't forget to include party hats and noisemakers to make sure that they're not in short supply when the ball drops.

3. Set up a photo area. For an interesting party favor idea, set up a photo area somewhere in your home with a small custom-made picture frame. Then your friends can take a picture holding their vice and write in what they're trying to avoid in the next year. This can be put on their fridge at home or in their office to give them plenty of motivation to make their resolution a reality.

New Year's Eve is closer than you think, so give this crafty theme party a try this year to allow your guests to cut loose before they return to their responsible ways in the new year.
