Have a premiere party with a movie night

Besides being a means of entertainment, movies are key components in social gatherings. Since their original inception when they were silent black and white affairs with live bands playing the score, they have served as a means for people to come together and share their love for the moving picture. Use society's passion for cinema by having a film showing at your place with all of your friends.
Get the word out!
Go digital with your party invitations and create a Facebook event page. Facebook will allow everyone to promptly respond and, most importantly, you will be able to create an online poll so your guests can collectively decide what movie they will watch. Choose from a variety of genres, such as horror, film noir, action, science fiction and romantic comedy. You can choose to show a recent release or an old classic that everyone already knows but is guaranteed to love.
Cue it up
Your party supplies should include adequate seating for everyone. Through Facebook you can get a rough estimate of who will be attending your get-together and you will be able to estimate how many chairs you will need. Ask some of the guests to bring at least their own seat and, if they can, chairs for everyone else.
Try to get your hands on a projector and turn the movie into an outdoor affair. All you will need in addition to this, is adequate speakers and a white sheet. This will ensure that everyone has a good view and if need be, people can sit comfortably on the lawn.
After party
Once the lights go back on and the credits roll, have everyone stick around for post-screening fun. Put out some food for everyone to munch on, such as chips and veggies as well as popcorn served in movie-themed cookie tin favors. Make fun party centerpieces using images from classic Hollywood movies. To make it a full-fledged celebration, hang up party curtains and curling ribbon to give the event an air of festivity.
In the spirit of the evening, devise fun movie trivia and find out which one of your friends is the real cinephile. As questions such as, "What actor and famed musician starred in the movie Man With the Golden Arm directed by Otto Preminger?" The answer: Frank Sinatra.
