Greet the summer season with a red, white and blue Fourth of July fiesta
Date Created: 06/08/2012
The Fourth of July is an event to look forward to. Not only is it the opportune time to display your penchant for patriotism, it is the ideal holiday for getting together and catching up with all of your family friends. Almost everyone is given the day off from work, and the holiday's summer date allows for outdoor, and backyard fun. So throw a Fourth of July bash that you and your guest will forever remember.
Send out party invitations to everyone you know who is within driving distance from your home. Adorn your invites with patriotic themes like American flags and pictures of Uncle Sam. You can use red, white and blue corrugated paper as well. If you want to help reach a broad audience, then make an invitation page via facebook. You can make it a public event and have some of your friends be administrators as well, so they in turn can invite people they know. This will ensure your party garners a great crowd.
Put yard signs up on your lawn that read, "Happy 4th!" or have other enthusiastic phrases on a personalized banner celebrating the conception of America, have it bear the words, "On this day America was born." Feel free to be creative as you want.
Time to eat Serve whatever food that you think your company will like best, and remember to keep a large stock of beer, wine, juice and soda. If you are expecting a large number of people, then perhaps ask some of your guests to bring beverages to share. Make fun margaritas with red and blue syrups and mixes, or mixed drinks with appropriately colored Koolaid. You can also make edible party centerpieces using blueberries, strawberries and raspberries.
Get everyone involved with games that multiple people can play. Set up a volleyball net in the backyard and get large teams of people, that way no one has to run around and the atmosphere can stay relaxed. Whiffle ball will also keep everyone active and can be played at a slow enough pace that guests can still socialize.
Set up fun party crafts for the kids outside. Give them markers or finger paints and have them do recreations of the flag. Marthastewart.com also suggests making patriotic pinwheels using a push pins, a cork, a bamboo skewer and a pushpin. This is a great non-messy alternative that the little ones can take home and enjoy.
