The 1960s were a time of great social awareness and was certainly a groovy time in American history. Let this spirit of the '60s embody your next shindig. A retro party is a great excuse to get dressed up and celebrate with good company and phenomenal music.
First off, make sure that you have the proper attire - try to work in bandanas, peace symbols, tie-dyed t-shirts and other '60s garb. The more bodacious and creative, the better. Try accenting the venue with some fresh flowers like daisies or daffodils along with other colorful flair to create a good vibe.
Food can also be a staple of your shindig. Try to work around natural or organic ingredients to keep with the hippie spirit. Include as many veggies as you can and try some black bean dip for an appetizer and some portobello mushroom sliders for an entree.
Mylar balloons, party centerpieces and streamers are retro party supplies that will add a festive atmosphere to your celebration. Incorporate flowers, peace symbols and any other colorful accents to remember the spirit of the 60s.
