DJs play retro tunes to liven up parties
Date Created: 09/07/2010
DJ Omri S Quire spins at some of New York City's hottest spots, including the Blind Barber and the Tribeca Grand Hotel. But what sets him apart from other nightlife impresarios is his knack for working some retro music into his playlist, The New York Post reports.
At a recent gig he worked in the tunes of Glenn Miller, mashing them up with The Ramones. At other gigs he gets the crowds going by mixing it up with Lena Horne, the Pixies, James Brown and Soft Cell.
"I think there's a lot of great moments where you have jazz songs, just like in rock and house, the rhythms are really similar and it's really great when the keys work," he told the news source.
A retro party may just be what the doctor ordered to help liven up your next theme night.
Encourage your guests to dress up from their favorite decade, whether it be 50s poodle skirts or jazz age ensembles from the roaring 20s, costumes will make the party that much more fun.
Party curtains with retro flowers and balloons are great decorations for all occasions.
Send your guests home with unique glow party favors that'll remind them of their trip back in time.
