Alicia Keys' charity gala raises $3 million
Date Created: 11/07/2011
R&B star Alicia Keys recently hosted her Black Ball, a charity gala in New York City that combined jaw-dropping musical performances, a charity auction and other forms of philanthropy to raise $3 million for Keys' own non-profit Keep A Child Alive Foundation. The organization raises funds to support victims of HIV/AIDS in Africa, according to Technorati.com.
While tickets to the exclusive event costs guests $25,000 each, the evening's entertainment was well worth it. Keys gave an award to the late George Harrison, a noted humanitarian, and presented it to his widow, Olivia. Keys also honored him in song, teaming with Gary Clark Jr. and Nora Jones to sing a rendition of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
