A winter wonderland party will get your friends amped for the snowy weather

Date Created: 11/09/2011

A winter wonderland party will get your friends amped for the snowy weather. The period between Thanksgiving and Christmas is a crazy time of shopping and stress, and sometimes people need a way to escape the harried nature of the holiday season. If you're looking for a fabulous way to kick off your holiday entertaining this year, a winter party is a fitting medium to flex your creative muscle. A winter party has plenty of potential to create stunning ambiance and an engaging aesthetic, and it will be a welcome departure from Christmas carols and shopping that can become tiresome, even in early December. Keep these ideas in mind to help your family and friends look forward to the chilly days ahead.

1. Atmosphere. Using a bunch of white accents, from fake snow to small snowmen to snowflake light sculptures, will help make your venue look like a winter wonderland from the get-go. With this in mind, it's best to use ambient lighting when planning out your decorative scheme. Since white has the ability to reflect light, your room will already feel very bright with dimmed lighting, so consider using string lights around the perimeter of your space or use candles. You can also use colorful streamers, balloons, party centerpieces and other winter party supplies to help fill in the gaps.

2. Comfort food. Winter cuisine comes with its own share of culinary delights, so plan your menu around delectable comfort food. Soup or chili would be a great option to serve with some easy-to-clean party tableware and imprinted napkins, and you can even brew up some warm apple cider for your guests to enjoy. Most importantly, don't forget dessert! Go for a series of winter desserts such as pecan balls, apple crisp and gingerbread men for your guests to munch on throughout the evening.

3. Party favors. Giving your guests a thank you present for attending your bash is always appreciated, and there are a number of great options at your disposal. From cookie tin favors to personalized chocolate bars to mint tins, these fabulous gifts will give your friends and family something to enjoy long after your bash is over.

A winter party is a great idea for the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, and it will give your guests a break from decorations and carols to help them unwind and get ready for the holiday season.
