I can walk out of my back door and pick up beautiful seashells; however, these shells are rare for this part of the country. According to the sticker on the bag, they come from India. Not only are they beautiful and unique, they come in quite a variety of shapes and colors - many spirals and fans.

I plan to use these shells as a lazy way to fill in some decorations around a beach theme cake. I would advise keeping count of how many shells you place around a cake so you can be sure to remove all of them prior to serving. I was expecting to have to put in extra effort to get them clean. I was surprised to find that these shells were already clean and only required a short precautionary soak in hot soapy water. The shells are fragile, but there were only a few broken or chipped shells in the bag.

Some of these shells are a stark white spiral with a pearlescent lining. They would look gorgeous on or around a wedding cake. Not only are these shells perfect for temporary, fill in decorations on a cake or cupcakes, they are pretty enough to be used in craft projects that require a higher quality product.
