If words such as Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Squirtle regularly come out of your kid’s mouth and if he’s hoping to advance to an evolved state, then this might be the right year for a Pokémon birthday party. At Shindigz, we carry affordable licensed Pokémon party supplies – plates, cups and napkins – that will let you serve your guests in style. We also carry yellow balloons and paper lanterns that are the perfect shape for creating a smiling Pikachu face to decorate the room. Start with a white or red lantern to make a hanging Pokéball decoration. Complete the decor with blue and black streamers draped from walls and table cloths in red, yellow, blue and black. Packs of Pokémon cards are the obvious favors, but if some of your guests aren’t fans of the game, Shindigz also carries items such as disc shooters and bouncy balls.
The obvious entertainment at a Pokémon birthday is playing Pokémon. If you’d like something a little more active, though, try our Pokemon party game. It’s a twist on the classic “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” that involves placing a Pokéball on Charizard. Ask your kids to translate that. They’ll know what it means. Homemade refreshments are easy to make – start with a round yellow-iced layer cake, cupcake or cookie and add the appropriate red and black decorations to re-create Pikachu’s face. Serve blue Squirtle-spit punch – your kids won’t think this is nearly as gross as you do – and make a Swirlix from bagged cotton candy. Your child will be impressed with your deep Pokémon knowledge and your friends will be wowed by your creativity.
