Hi I’m Mary Collins with your Shindigz Party News Blast for Monday.
The red carpet was rolled out last night out and celebrities were everywhere for the 67th Tony awards which were broadcast live from New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Cicely Tyson’s return to Broadway after three decades earned the actress a Tony. Tyson’s acceptance speech for best actress in a play was an emotional highlight and “Kinky Boots” led the night with six Tonys.
Simon Cowell had egg on his face this weekend, literally. It happened when a former contestant hurled raw eggs at him during the “Britain’s Got Talent” finale.
2 contestants were performing when a woman suddenly ran to the front of the stage and, grinning from ear to ear, pelted Simon with five eggs before she was thwarted by security. Simon didn’t seem too shell-shocked by the attack, wiping yolk off his shirt and removing his jacket for the rest of the episode. The egg-tosser was later identified a viola player who had auditioned for “BGT” last year but was rejected.
In a bit of an upset, the low-budget horror movie “The Purge” claimed the #1 spot at the box office this weekend. It made a hefty $36.4 million, despite only costing $3 million to make. The Owen Wilson-Vince Vaughn comedy, “The Internship,” didn’t fare nearly as well. It made just $18.1 million in 4th place.
That’s the latest, more Tuesday on the Party News Blast from Shindigz!
