Birthday Cake Ideas for a My Little Pony Party

No birthday party is complete without a cake! We’ve got two great cake ideas for your My Little Pony Party.

First, try a Blue Ribbon Cake for the birthday girl who is also a great horsewoman.

What you’ll need:

2 packaged cake mixes
1- 9″ x 13″ cake pan
1- 8″ round cake pan
2 or 3-15 oz. containers of ready-made white frosting
One large muffin top or Hostess Snowball (to make the center of the ribbon)
8 wafer cookies (to create the appearance of the gathering on the ribbon)
One board for displaying the cake
Blue food coloring

Bake the cakes according to the directions on the box.  After the cakes have cooled, place the round cake on the cake board, and place the 9″ x 13″ cake on a piece of waxed paper.  Cut the shape of the ribbon tail out of the 9″ x 13″ cake (you will discard some of the cake), and then place it on the cake board under the round cake.  Add the muffin top to the center of the round cake.  Place the wafer cookies on the round cake, spacing them evenly around the muffin top.   Frost the entire cake with the blue frosting.  This one is a winner!

For a different twist, try this pony cake!

What you’ll need:

2 packaged cake mixes
2- 9″ x 13″ cake pans
2-15 oz. container of ready-made chocolate frosting
1-15 oz. container of ready-made caramel frosting
One board for displaying the cake
One tube of black writing gel
1 leather shoe lace for harness
1 small piece of aluminum foil for bridle

Bake the cake according to the directions on the box.  After the cakes have cooled freeze them and when still frozen place them on a piece of waxed paper to cut into the shape of a horse’s head.  Cut the shapes according to the diagram, and then place them together on a cake board.  Frost the entire cake with the chocolate frosting.  Next, spoon caramel frosting into a large ziploc bag and seal the bag.  Snip a 1/4 inch piece from one of the bottom corners.  Pipe a mane on the horse’s head, using lots of “strands” of frosting. Use black piping gel to create the nose and the outline of an eye.  Cut pieces of leather shoe lace to create the harness, and gently place on the cake.  Add foil “bridle”.  Enjoy!

Be sure to serve your cake on My Little Pony tableware and check out the rest of our My Little Pony Party TipZ!
