Hello Kitty Cake for a Perfect Birthday Treat

Create a Hello Kitty cake for the birthday girl and she’ll be absolutely delighted. Creating your Hello Kitty cake isn’t as hard as it may seem.

What you’ll need:
• 2 boxes cake mix of your choice
• 2 cans of vanilla ready-made frosting
• 2 13 x 9” cake pans (or use 1 and cook cakes separately)
• Black writing gel
• Yellow and black gumballs (small ones)
• Pink fondant or a piece of pink ribbon
• Black writing gel

First, bake the cakes according to the instructions on the box. Freeze the cake overnight.

Create a template in the shape of Hello Kitty’s face on a large piece of wax paper, foil, or paper. Look at a picture of Hello Kitty to do this. The shape of her head is simple and easy to cut. While the cake is still frozen, layer your two 13×9” cakes together and place the template on top. Using a large knife, cut around the edges of your template. (Enjoy the scraps of cake!).

Frost the cake, using frosting to secure the two layers of the cake together in the middle. Be sure to smooth the frosting on the top of the cake. This will be Hello Kitty’s face!

Use black gumballs to make Hello Kitty’s eyes. You can also do this with black writing gel. The yellow gumball is Hello Kitty’s nose. Use black writing gel to draw on whiskers too.

Finally, create Hello Kitty’s ribbon. Shape the fondant into the ribbon or tie a bow out of a scrap of pink ribbon and secure to the cake with a dab of frosting. The ribbon can simply be removed when it’s time to cut the cake.

This cake is deceptively simple to make, so you’re really going to wow your guests and the birthday girl!
