Fuel Up for Fun with Football Food!

Championship Football EnsembleOne of the highlights of a football party is the food! From chicken wings, burgers, and other tailgate staples to lots of yummy desserts, you should have enough food on hand to feed a team of big, burly athletes (or their fans!).

When we think of football food, we think of mouth-watering morsels that require lots of napkins! Buffalo chicken wings are a favorite among football fans, so have several different flavors on hand.

A large pot of homemade chili is sure to heat up your party. Have dishes of cheese, onions, and hot sauce nearby and everybody will be snacking! Here’s a simple chili recipe that would work well for your party:

Ingredients:

1 lb Lean Ground Beef
2 cans Tomato Sauce
1 small can Tomato Paste
1 large Onion
1 large Green Bell Pepper
2 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Black Pepper
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Sugar
2 cans Red Kidney Beans

Brown meats in skillet until well done. Drain grease. Mince onions and peppers (may use food processor). Mix all ingredients and cook. Mixture will cook fast (about 15 minutes) or you can cook in a crock-pot in 4-12 hours. Makes 8 servings. Note: If milder chili is preferred, cut chili powder and black pepper in half.

Keep a steady supply of chips and dips on hand. Everyone will love snacking on these during the game! Ask each guest to bring their own favorite dip for a great variety!

Have a lighter fare on hand. Cut up fruit like watermelon, cantalope, and strawberries and display with a tasty yogurt dip. A veggie tray is also a popular choice at Super Bowl parties.

If the weather is warm enough (or your chef is brave enough to battle the wicked winter!), fire up the grill and serve hot dogs, burgers, and brats!

Cake:

Create a fun shaped cake with a football cake pan! Decorate to look like an authentic pigskin and serve on a piece of grass green floral sheeting. Create yard lines on the vinyl with white piped frosting!

If you are serving more people than can be accommodated by one boxed mix, which is what this pan calls for, we recommend that you simply bake an extra rectangular cake. Decorate the cake like a football field and add football-shaped erasers on top!
